CBK at Halifax (nee Huddersfield) 2019 "Your Best Five CBKs"

What makes a British kit a Classic? What Classic kit is really British? What is the SIG all about and what goes on...from initial musings, to full on campaigning. It'll all be here, interspersed with talk of Texan Bars, Alias Smith & Jones and The Flashing Blade, Footy Cards and Bath Night, before School.

Huddersfield/Halifax Model Show 2019

Post by JamesPerrin »

I've just got the invite through for Huddersfield 2019. I'll put in the request for two tables (we never get four) and I will organise the display in due course.

Edit:

The show will be held on the 10 Feb 2019 at the Halifax Leisure Centre (not Huddersfield!)

Thanks for doing that, James. I believe that the show is actually going to be held in Halifax? or has there been a further change back to Huddersfield?

So will it now be called the Huddersfax show? Or perhaps Halifield?

Actually this reminds me that I have to contact the organisers to request a table for the Cold War SIG. Had a great time there in 2017 and fancy a repeat. 8-)

Hopefully the sports centre in Halifax will be as good as the one was in Huddersfield. I liked the new Hudds sports centre and I don't know if this change is just for 2019 or permanently - if it's permanent then there's not much point calling it the Huddersfield Show anymore  I was at the first Hudds show back in 1994 as a member of IPMS Leeds which I think has now been re-named as IPMS Wakefield and District.

It will be great to see you there Daz. I recall that you enjoyed the night life in Huddersfield and hopefully Halifax won't disappoint (I've never actually been to the town). That said, if the pubs aren't to your taste Huddersfield isn't a million miles away from Halifax and lies just over the other side of the M62.

CBK at Halifax (nee Huddersfield) 2019 "Your Best Five CBKs"

Post by JamesPerrin »

The Northern Model Show that has always been held at Huddersfield has had to fin a new home this year and will be held on 10th February on the other side of the M62 at Halifax Leisure Centre.

We have two tables allocated (the layout looks v similar to Huddersfield) and I want to put the focus on every bodies hard work and therefore not flood the table with kits. So I want those who are exhibiting to pick their five best/favourite CBK builds and we will have them space out so that they can be properly appreciated. Now obviously 5 1/24 superkits would be taking the Mick and 5 54mm figures would be selling yourself short. So as a rough guide.

Anything smaller 1/2 space
1/72 twin engine fighter counts as 1 space
1/72 4 engine bomber 2 spaces
Anything bigger 3 spaces

Depending on the number of members who say that they will attend with models to display I will adjust quotas. Please let me know what you are bringing beforehand.

Unfortunately the date is not ideal as the carpark hosts a fortnightly car boot sale (in February!?). I've scanned the car park instructions that I've been sent for your perusal. SIG set up is from 9am, and I have 3 golden wristbands for those bringing kits to display. Please PM me if you need one of these.

Just two weeks to go and I’ve had only two responses so far. Could regular attendees of the Huddersfield show please let me know their intentions either way ASAP.

Hi, James... I’ll be there. Haven’t finally settled on what to bring, but the Matchbox Phantom and Donohue Porsche 917, Kitmaster Beyer Garrett, Airfix 1/12 Old Guard and Firefly Dinghy are what I’m thinking today...
Best,
M.

Sorry for my tardy response but I've been away on holiday for a week. PM sent to James and I'll sort out some suitable models. My initial thought is to keeping it relatively small with some vehicles - I could do a mix of Airfix/Matchbox 1/72nd, 1/76th and one 1/32nd Airfix Crusader.

From the description of the problems we face when visiting the site this is not worth attending.

Don't yet know if I will make that show. Will advise nearer the time.

All the best.

Thanks for the responses so far. Depending on the numbers it's likely we'll need to up the quota so start thinking who you want on the reserves bench.
