Israeli Centurion APC Shared Build. *** Paused ***
This is a shared build between Alan & Myself (does anyone else want to join in ?) we will attempt to convert the classic Airfix 1/76 scale Centurion tank into one of the Israeli Centurion APC conversions, the Nagmachon and Nagmashot and given the lack of detailed online information for any one particular tank this could prove to be an even greater challenge for us than the Stridsvagn SB although the first stage will be straightforward as we each already have moulds for the diesel engine deck.

Morning Alan, should we wait a few days in case anyone wants to join us? have you decided which one you are building?

I think the Nagmashot as the later version is beyond my skill set.

This is what I’m starting with, basically the Airfix Centurion with a copy of the rear deck I made for the Swedish Stridsvagn 104, if anyone wants to join in I can make them a copy of the rear deck, just PM me and I will get one in. The post.

Re: Israeli Centurion APC Shared Build.
Here is my victim for my part in this SB, a later boxing than Alan's kit but the contents are identical and like Alan I am using a resin engine deck taken from a scratch built original.

Re: Israeli Centurion APC Shared Build.
David as we will both finish up with unused turrets, did they use the Centurion turrets on any tanks?

Re: Israeli Centurion APC Shared Build.
The first step is to lengthen the hull parts by 2mm to correct the mistake Airfix made years ago. Here are my modified hull parts and resin engine deck, the front panels on the bazooka plates have been removed as these will be replaced with plastic card replacements.

Re: Israeli Centurion APC Shared Build.
Searching the internet I haven't found any real information/images for any one vehicle, most of the images are of models and I can't find a true identity and date to match an image. As a result my model may have to be generic.

Re: Israeli Centurion APC Shared Build.
Switzerland used surplus Centurion turrets as gun emplacements/bunkers, there are a number of pictures online and the disguises for some of them were quite clever.splash wrote:David as we will both finish up with unused turrets, did they use the Centurion turrets on any tanks?

The hull has here been assembled and the rear panel has been shaped to match that of the Nagmashot/Nagmachon.

Good grief! Is that WOOD?
Excellent work and now I have to go search for some pics of those Swiss ground-mounted turrets.

I have to say I am impressed with the work you and Splash are doing on these models. Not my area of interest, but that doesn’t take away from the work you are doing.
(I do think the tank crew on the art work are showing a serious lack of self-peservation in that, clearly hostile, environment.)
