Hi Greg, this sheet is from mini print decals, No. 72012, about russian Spits, P-40s and the one sole P-51 the USSR had.
Image
they look good on paper, but seem a bit thin (?), I better hit them with micro set and sol only.
My cold is more vicious than I anticipated, yesterday was a lost day, hmmmpppff
at least I finished most work on the prop...

Thanks for the info. I will try and get hold of that sheet. The Russians got a few more P52's be other means at the end of the war. In one case a member of the Russian NKVD shot and killed an American pilot who had belly landed his Mustang in order to get their hands on the machine. With allies like him who needs enemies.

All the best.

Oh, I didn´t know.
....maybe he thought he was a spy? He obviously landed his american plane behind russian lines! Isn´t that proof enough? (Now I´m really sarcastic)

my mix of russian light blue:
Image
I was lazy, I put a lot of white into some H247 (equivalent of RLM 65), and brushed it on.

my mix for russian green:
Image
this mix I like more than my try with the pale blue.
I´ll use this green on the Sturmovik, too, "that I´ll finish one day"...
Russian colours leave room for lots of artistic license, I like that!
There´s controversy about the look of this plane, some think it used russian colours, others say, it was painted
in standard RAF day fighter scheme.
I´m going for the "russian look".
Decals slapped on tomorrow...

the mpd decals perform well:
Image
proof of the pudding was to see, how the red star would cover over the white arrow!
First I hesitated, thought about cutting out the part of the arrow, where the star would fit in, then I thought:
well, let´s just put it on top of the arrow, and see if it works.
Ok, the white shines a wee bit thru the red, but I can live with it
Hope I can finish this one tonight (next week theres much less time for modelling!)

They do look as though they have good colour density and your Spitfire looks great in those markings.

That looks superb Crash, you don't often see Soviet Spitfires.

Thank you both!
I just did the varnish - shes done now:

sun set already, too dark to take pics with daylight...
I´ve got to say: this kit was not a big hassle to build.
You hardly see this Frog kit built up nowadays, but I wanted to give it a try.
It didn´t make a big difference, that the fuselage had been glued already,
the fuse don´t give you much work to do.
The wings - the biggest problem of this kit - did take less time to get thinned down.
For people that like to build frogs anyway, I can recommend this kit.
It´s no waste of time, to thin out the wings from the inner side, IMHO.
But I would NEVER EVER try sanding the surface of the wings, all that engraving of new panel lines -
naaaah, not for me.
So, this was my last build for this SB.
I really enjoyed it, a big "thank you!" to Gregers and Lancfan for hosting this.
:partytime:
Lots of pending GBs that interest me! but for the next months, not enough time left for me to participate :-(
But still enough time, to do the other half-finished model, here and there.

Nicely done, Crash, the Spit looks great in those Soviet markings.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Thanks evrybody for your kind words.
Aahhhmm, I´m curious: what happened to O_T´s build? He had it half-done already. Excuse my nosiness.
If this SB is still goin on, I might consider another build?
