Hello, my name is Alex, but call me Cardinal. I’m a younger chap compared to most here, but starting young never hurts, right? I started out with diecast and Lego’s, but that stuff was quite a budget, and so my modeling journey started about two years ago. Had a few breaks since, but I’m not seeing any stopping yet, with my wishlist set. I started getting into the internet aspect on blogs like Plastic Warriors, but moved on to UAMF since. I still check out that blog though because it has been a great inspiration. I hope to show my work here, because Discord doesn’t treat well… I’m not a birdwatcher, but I do love seeing Cardinals. Something about them…

Hi Cardinal/Alex and a warm welcome to the forum. Do I take it from your username that you are from or living in the USA or Canada as the Cardinal is not a bird we have here in the UK (my wife assures me) but our friends in the colonies often mention them when we are banging on about Robins and Blackbird etc. at this time of year?
As well as the usual plastic fare of planes, tanks and ships many of us here also have interest in fantasy/Warhammer type figures, model railways (railroads if you must :ha:) and die casts etc. so you could share those with us as well when you get used to the layout of the forum.

Welcome Alex. We usually have a pair of Cardinals in our back garden in the spring here in Ottawa.

I am a Canadian student currently residing in the UK, and have been a scale modeller since I was a kid, inheriting the hobby from my dad, who was also a user on the UAMF and who passed in May. His user was Jamesaw, based on my name (I think he came up with the username when I was small).

Greetings in general, I am happy to be involved.

Welcome to the forum James. So sorry to hear about your dad we seem to have lost too many fellow modellers in recent years.

It was strange, I remember him telling me of fellow modelers on here passing as well, it is admittedly liminal to relay that message to you all. I am going to get a photo from my mother of the last kit he built, which was the Revell 1/570 scale Titanic, done for my mother. He got much of it done before his final lapse into hospital, I completed it up by his bedside in the hospital.

I appreciate the condolences, everyone.
