Scale Model World 2019

Post by IronMan129 »

Has anyone else started thinking about Telford SMW19 yet?
I am, my list is slowly growing but not sure about my savings......

I've been working on my pre-order from Hannants for months. I'm just waiting on them to offer the 'collect-from-show' on it.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I've been thinking about it since before SMW 2018.

Atleast it's not just me then!
I've sold both my Airfix B-1 and Monogram B-52 and saved funds now to buy atleast Modelcollect's B-2 Spirit and B-52H Stratofortress.

I had no doubt you'd be doing something like that Daz, your Cold War SIG display is always a favourite of mine!

I'm gradually building a list. It helps that people like Airfix have announced forthcoming kits that I want, and they'll hopefully be released in time for aftermarket companies to bring out helpful extras.

I wonder... will Airfix release the prototype Concorde in time for (at least) one to be on the CBK stand this year? :-D

I am thinking more of accessories and equipment rather than kits (although I'll probably spend too much on kits too).

I've had to tighten my belt somewhat this year, so if I can just cover the cost of my room at the International
for two nights I'll consider that a win!

I'm sure an Airfix Bucc may sneak into my bag if I've not bought one already.

Just doing the Saturday this year, no list to speak of. Bargains for me are becoming scarce at the big shows and I've sold a good portion of my stash off so I no longer have the desire to rummage as I had previously. I have a Bucc and Mig 17 on pre order through our local model club/Hannants so it will probably be just supplies / tools.

My accommodation is booked, aircraft are standing by for their respective stands and I will undoubtably leave on Sunday evening, with a list of things I forgot to look for!

Unfortunately my previous post here was a bit optimistic as I will not now be able to attend SMW at all. I hope all you guys going have a superb time and I look forward to seeing the photos afterwards.
Cheers

Floorplans and all other useful and associated information has today been released by IPMS.

The CBK, Cold War and A&NVM tables are all in a line in Hall 2 - in the usual row, near to Kits for Cash.

Thanks for that, Chris. That's very useful to know.

I'm amused that our own splash appears to have an SIG all to himself -- up the left-hand end of block 1E. :ha:

Against that, I'm disappointed that PJ Productions look to be giving this year a miss. Shame; I usually pick up a few of their crew sets.
