Huddersfield/Halifax Model Show 2020

What makes a British kit a Classic? What Classic kit is really British? What is the SIG all about and what goes on...from initial musings, to full on campaigning. It'll all be here, interspersed with talk of Texan Bars, Alias Smith & Jones and The Flashing Blade, Footy Cards and Bath Night, before School.

Just got the confirmation letter, we are in the same spot as last year. Set up is from 8am and I'll be there about then. They've forgotten to send us any wristbands, I've emailed but if I don't hear from the organisers in the next few days I chase this up as I've got to send them on to people. We are doing the Civilians Display, I think I have all the kits apart from contributions from Craig and Greg.

There are new restrictions on under the table selling ( due to complaints from traders, read "profiteers clearing out Aldi of Airfix promos and reselling dozens of them" ). Limit is ~20 kits per table so that's ~5 each for the regular attendees. I've got a few to punt so please let me know if you intend bringing stuff to sell - it implies you will be helping to look after the table!

Can members please confirm your attendance.

All being well I'll be there, James. I haven't got any builds suitable for the civilian theme though. Sorry about that.

I'll try and pop in seeing I'm just down the road, depending on how the caravan sale is going.

One of the organisers has posted updates about parking over on BM. Looks like the North Bridge Car Park will be free early on as the car boot sale is cancelled.

Having the North Bridge car park free was very handy. Sorry I had to leave a bit earlier than usual this year but it was great to see you all and have a natter. I still think this is a great little show and I rather like the smaller Halifax venue.

The weather rather took it's toll this year as there were a number of empty tables and though the weather was OK on Sunday many had obviously decided not to venture out. This was a shame really as there were some good displays and some bargains to be had. Apart from myself Shane, Craig, Shaun and (once he had worked out how to escape from the flyover) Matt were in attendance. After setting up Craig went off for a scout and soon reappeared with an armful of modelling books; some guy was flogging them for 50p and £1 each! I think he sold almost all before the show properly started! This obviously had breached the dam that is Craig's wallet and shillings and tuppenny pieces were soon turned in cold hard plastic.

The display did alright attention wise given the thin crowd and I even manged to make a net reduction in the stash! As always it was just good to catch up with friends!
