Thank you impisi, I am pleased with the S-60 and as for the repair, the kit is 1:48 scale so there's enough plastic to be able to drill and then insert a pin for securing the blades back onto the head. It's just the weight of the things pulling down on a very small area where the blades join the head.

I've put the major components together for the Wellesley.


Then it was on with a primer before the base coat for the camouflage.



Then the Green on top. I used the Hataka paints again even though I find them troublesome but the shades are really good and they brush on so well.


What I did not have this time was the paint coming off with the masking tape when I'd masked and painted the underside. Maybe I've done something right this time. I'll have this done in no time.

Have to love the mad interwar projects - you don't see enough of them. That is coming along very well, and is a nice kit if memory serves.

The reason for building the Wellesly is because it was a type used by 7 Sqn before they moved onto the Whitley. I will get round to doing a Thread in the Aviation gallery. James, I'm so impressed with the fabric detailing on this kit, it's probably as good as any modern manufacturer would achieve today. After this normal Helicopter service might resume, subject to a GB for land based vehicles of course

It's about done, just waiting for the replacement decals to turn up.

Great work with the Wellesley, which is one of those more obscure types that MB seemed to specialize in and praise be that they did.

I read an interesting bit of history about these aircraft the other day. They were used during the war apparently, one of the aircraft flown but the Long Range flight was used to ferry people and stuff around Africa. It's mentioned in a book called Hurricanes over the Jungle - the author has a lift in one to get to an airfield with some Hurricanes that needed collecting.

Something else that came out Stuart is that they played a decisive role in the defeat of the Italians in East Africa when they were used by 14 Sqn to bomb fuel storage tanks thereby starving the Italians of fuel for their military vehicles.

So back to the kit. My replacement decals appeared and they look a lot healthier than the originals.
