'Tank Killers *** Complete & Archived ***
Anyone up for a GB on Tank Killers?
It could be dedicated tank killing vehicles, tank buster aircraft (Tiffie or Henschel), anti tank guns (88 or 6 pounder)Tank aces (Wittmann) or guys with PIATs, panzerschrecks or bazookas

Re: 'Tank Killers' GB anyone?
Sounds like a good idea PT
I have a Stuka that would fit the bill, plus something with tracks I'm sure

Re: 'Tank Killers' GB anyone?
Depending on Timings I'd be in - I'd love to have another go at the old 1/48 Airfix AH-64A or failing that I have an Eduard Typhoon in the stash.

A couple of good suggestions already! I would be looking to strike while the iron is hot as I have a Piper L4 on order (yup! you heard right) mid or late Feb to mid or late March would be my preference as a time.

Actually, from an aircraft perspective, how do you differentiate between a specialised 'Tank Killer' and a generic 'Ground Attack/CAS' aircraft - I would imagine there is a fair bit of cross over?Stuart wrote:Yep - sooner rather than later.Purplethistle wrote:A couple of good suggestions already! ... Actually ignore me, that's probably thinking about it too deeply!

Might be something with a dedicated anti tank weapon fitted or used, A-10's as mentioned, or Typhoons with Rockets..Stuart wrote:Actually, from an aircraft perspective, how do you differentiate between a specialised 'Tank Killer' and a generic 'Ground Attack/CAS' aircraft - I would imagine there is a fair bit of cross over?Stuart wrote:Yep - sooner rather than later.Purplethistle wrote:A couple of good suggestions already! Well, my take is, 'if has killed a tank (or could), it's in!'MarkyM607 wrote:Might be something with a dedicated anti tank weapon fitted or used, A-10's as mentioned, or Typhoons with Rockets..Stuart wrote:Actually, from an aircraft perspective, how do you differentiate between a specialised 'Tank Killer' and a generic 'Ground Attack/CAS' aircraft - I would imagine there is a fair bit of cross over?Stuart wrote:Yep - sooner rather than later.Purplethistle wrote:A couple of good suggestions already! That would give as wide a range of subjects as possible whether they were designed for the purpose or adapted as my main subject will be. I'm also thinking of a second one of a figure with a PIAT or a 'Sticky Bomb'
Interesting true examples of ingenuity are also welcome if anyone is so inclined!

...Or Maybe this - just thinking of the bit in 'Red Storm Rising' where they're describing the US Jeeps with missiles attacking the Soviet Armour and then running away.

Re: 'Tank Killers' GB, Tanks, planes, whatever?
Bump!
We seem to have 6 so far, I've altered the title to draw in anyone else who maybe thinks it's only armour or only aircraft. I'd be looking to start it for 6 weeks, beginning mid Feb.
