Shared build, usually fewer people involved but is more flexible as far as dates and length. More info in the gb/sb guidelines.
Hope this helps.

I think (I may be wrong though) that a shared build can be of much longer duration than a Group Build would be, therefore making it easier to fit in around other commitments or builds

That's true, and I am rather heavily committed this year.....

Trouble is I also see a lot of shared builds that linger and die a long, slow death because there's no end date.

Maybe if we set a provisional end date but allow extentions for latecomers and late finishes and big builds.

I'm just sayin'.

For me, a shared build is actually an advantage, given how many GBs I seem to have committed to this year, both here and at BM. Not having a set date would mean being able to slowly complete it/them without pressure. But on the other hand, without an end date, I also run the risk of putting them aside altogether as enthusiasm dies.

I'm in either way. ;-)

I think an SB should have an end date, or as Paul says it can just drag on and on, or fizzle out without a trace.
We could make it last until the end of the year, from a convenient starting point for all interested.
The other difference with a SB is that (I think) it only has one thread, in which all involved post their progress so over the course of the build there should be a steady input of posts....
Best wishes

Well, I'm pretty much committed to at least two GBs at a time from now right through the end of the year, so it really doesn't matter to me! I'll squeeze in build time where I can.

I'd be up for either a AN or GB - love the Hawk and have a few in the stash!

Give me about, at least, 2 weeks till I get my replacement computer sorted.
End date - maybe bginning of October, then those building for SMW can have a free month.

I agree with you Fred.
Yes. On your workbench thread with updates in the shared build thread with links to the build and the occasional photo seems to be what works. Though some just stick to posting in the shared build thread then post the complete build in their workbench thread. It is up to you.

Although a S.B. doesn't really have a leader as such I think one or two Leaders could be useful - to chase up and encourage build progress et cetera

SBL would be me as this was my suggestion. If anyone wants to step forward as 2nd in com?

This is a great aircraft. Loads of nations use it so not too sure about whatiffery but if it is plausible, say a country who ordered then cancelled. Or just evaluated but chose another type then that's OK. Everyone OK with this?

I have four to chose from for this.
1/ RAF 79SQN RAF Brawdy wrap round cammo
2/ Red Arrows XX262 Lost after hitting a boat mast, pilot ejected to safety.
3/ Red Arrows armament practice camp with Sidewinders.
4/ BAE Hawk single seat prototype.

I have LOADS more to choose from but I have narrowed the list down to these. What do you guys think I should build?

As you say, so many users - so I don't think whiffery is necessary. There are so many decal sheets out there with Hawks that there's plenty of real stuff to build without stepping into the bounds of fantasy for this project. Here's the Wikipedia page with full details:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAE_Systems_Hawk;

I make that 20+ users between the basic Hawk and Hawk 100 series. Then there's the Hawk 200 and T-45.

And I'll be 2IC, Greg.
