Spitfire Group Build?

Post by Chuck Finley »

Has enough time passed for another Spitfire group build? I say that after just Finishing a CMR Mk.XII and three Eduard Mk.IXs. If so, is there any interest in a Spitfire build this year?

The last Spitfire GB was in 2016, the Edgar Brooks Memorial GB - Every Mark of Spitfire. If this runs count me in.

Yes, it's called the BoB GB which is now forming and given the proposed length should be more than adequate to build lots of Spitfires.

Much as I'd like to join in, I cannot commit to any more GBs this year! In any case, I'm building a Spit I in the BoB GB. Perhaps next year, when we can celebrate the 85th anniversary of the first flight in March? I'd do a big kit for that......

That sounds like a good plan and as John has stated the Battle of Britain GB is a good home for any number of spitfires, indeed Spitfires were among the aircraft that patrolled the beaches at Dunkirk so they could be included in the Battle of France GB as well.

Unfortunately, all of my BOB subjects have been built and all of my remaining Spits date after 1940. So, I will probably sit that one out.

Spitfire family group build.

Post by Chuck Finley »

Thanks to my esteemed colleagues who decided that enough time has passed since the last Spitfire build, I put forth this proposal to see who is interested.

The Spitfire Family Group build will be open to any variant of Sptifire or Seafire including both Merlin and Griffin engine variants. In addition, the Spitfire's cousin Spiteful and Seafang will also be allowed.

So, if anybody is interested, drop a line and a happy new year to the UAMF family!

Unfortunately,
given my areas of modelling interest I cannot do a Spitfire build! :-(
The closest 29(F) Sqn got was the Hurricane (which they flew for just one month)
I have never flown or flown in a Spitfire
The Cuban airforce never operated Spitfires.

The older I get the better I was!
Current build:

Particular modelling interests:
Cuban Airforce aircraft, 29(F) Sqn aircraft, Aircraft I’ve flown

Perhaps we should choose a theme for a Spitfire GB next year ? I will begin by suggesting currently preserved Spitfires, flyable or static.
