Re: 1/72 Antonov AN-10/12 Shared Build **Open**
Thankyou, lads
I appreciate all the encouragement from the sidelines and everyone's patience as I dilly-dallied for the last few months on my own shared build. It was a bit of a mission to finish (I was up til 3am last night) but I got there and I'm happy with the finished product.
I rejigged one of my Kallax units just now to fit the thing, monster that it is.

Hopefully next year ScaleACT is on again. I always try to get down for that. Maybe we can display them side by side?

I hope ScaleACT is on, we are running a members only minicomp (1 day) early next year, but I believe the big one is slated for November as well (at this stage).
I have been up for a couple of the Sydney comps in the past couple of years, out at St Mary's and the APMA run one that has been out at Hornsby, Ryde & Parramatta (though I haven't been to that one for a couple of years).
Yes it would be nice to put them next to each other, we just need for things to get back to some normality (and I need to finish mine off!)

If you're ever up in Sydney on the last weekend of the month, come along to the IPMS Saturday meetup. We've started back up in person now.RayS wrote:I hope ScaleACT is on, we are running a members only minicomp (1 day) early next year, but I believe the big one is slated for November as well (at this stage).

Look forward to seeing your finished AN-12. It's well worth the effort
Thanks for the feedbackIronMan129 wrote:Vic you have done a great job again mate well done!

Give that mojo a good old rebooting then have at the Antonov. Once I got past the sanding and filling, especially the engine pods, it was a pretty easy pleasant build.

That looks great ! I wouldn't try to take on something that big, too much room to show off my building and painting flaws.

Re: 1/72 Antonov AN-10/12 Shared Build **Open**
So I finally got back to my AN-10, I went over all the areas I had rough sanded and tidied them up with some 400 grit paper to get rid of the grooves from the 180 grit I used previously.
After regluing the LH MLG assembly together again (this time it will not come apart) I added the little fiddly bits, starting with the tail skid and lower ventral fin
Next were some antennas up front, you see that dome on the chin, I was supposed to shove 40grams of weight in that, I suspect it would not have fit, fortunately it was put in the fuselage and as I recall about60 or 80 150 went in.
and finally I put the wheels together
So next I will re prime the seems and it will be time for the paintwork

Huzzah! Some great work there, Ray.
You're game putting antennae and the like on at this point. I wasn't prepared to until the very end of the build as I knew my oafish fingers would swipe them all off during painting and decaling.

Awesome progress Ray!
You can really see the difference between the 10 and 12 now!
I'll admit Vandal that I am the same!
I promise to get back to mine soon!

Thanks Dave and Adam, I got some primer on it yesterday and found I need to do a little more filling in quite a few spots.
Slowly but surely!
