Airliners Group Build *** Complete & Archived ***

Post by PaulBradley »

Hey all - I've looked back at our group builds from years past and I don't think we've ever had an airliners GB. So for the New year, I'm proposing one! Any civilian aircraft designed to carry paying passengers on point-to-point routes would be eligible, any scale, any medium. Anything from those early biplanes that could carry one paying passenger right up to the mighty A380. There are so many options.

I guess what I wanted to do is focus on regularly scheduled airline service airliners - your Boeings, Airbusses, Douglases, etc. - that carry fare-paying passengers on regularly scheduled flights from point-to point. If that happens to be a converted ex-military machine, or an executive jet or a feederliner, all well and good, if it conforms to that focus.

So no two-seat Spitfires, and other military aircraft that do flight experiences, etc. Another example - Avro York, Lancastrian - YES; B-17 converted to 'executive' aircraft - NO. Civilian - YES; military - NO. We all know what an airliner is, so please no convoluted justifications! ;-)

I'd like to run this one from January 1st thru February 28th. (And perhaps we should start having firm end dates again.)

Thoughts and takers?

Good idea.

Yes, the COVID endless GB's are over, regardless of the COVID status.

Count me in please.
I just bought a 1/144 Boeing 737-400 off a friend. I also have an Airfix 1/144 HP.42, a Trident, a Vanguard and Concorde but that needs new decals. And the new Airfix 'Vintage Classics' issue of the D.H. Heron II.
Thusly I'm sorted for the proper buses

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Hmmmm ....
It would seem that I have a 1/72 Boeing Model 40 and a 1/72 vac HP42 and a commercial Kangaroo, the latter possibly stretching the allowable definition.
So no easy pickings :)
Although, I have a 1/48 Pitcairn autogiro that carried 2 passengers, but that may be stretching also.
But that brings up the one-off Fairey Rotodyne ....

Is the Model 40 the CMR kit?

Nothing wrong with the Rotodyne - just because it didn't go into service doesn't preclude it from the GB!

Cheers, Fred - all good choices! What markings on your 737?

Provided I start to get kit time again I am interested. Plenty in the stash for this one.

All the best

Cool! Me, too - I checked my database and much to my surprise, I have around 15 suitable subjects! I have some favourites though...

I think those things not so much flew, as doggedly beat the air into submission.

They weren't all that pretty, but they worked.
