Vacform clear canopy and paint!

Post by Markh_75 »

Hi folks,

This arrived this morning!

Image

It also contains a number of resin parts (no issues there), some etch (Hmmmm, we'll see!), the kit itself inc' decals (fair one), and it comes with 2 vac form canopies!
This is a departure from most of my kits because they have always been the standard clear parts that come with any kit. What glue do i use to attach it to the model? AND what paints do i use?

Can i use enamels on these? Will it melt the vacform? (as i find acrylic paint doesnt stay on clear parts). Whats my best choice, as i brush paint (only spray i use is Tamiya primer)?

1. dip your canopy in clear acrylic varnish. this will help acrylic paints or decal strip to adhere to it. Acrylic paint is easier to tidy up, but enamels will not harm the canopy
2. Your usual canopy glue will work, or use Humbrol Clearfix. On vac canopies which are awkward to stay in place I use a 5 seconds setting UV resin glue to tack the canopy in place, then run a bit between the tacked places
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.
