RAAF Wedgetail at Port Macquarie today

Post by skypirate »

Half an hour ago, there I was, minding my own business, doing my household chores, when an RAAF Wedgetail made 4 approaches to our local airport.
I managed to put down my cleaning agents etc long enough to grab a camera, change the lens and shoot off a few frames against the overcast sky.

I was ready with a bigger lens and a different viewpoint for a 5th circuit, but it never came back.

Enjoy!

David

Great pics of a very interesting military B-737 variant, David.

It is actually now know in RAAF parlance as an E-7A.

Nice shots David, this one (A30-001) has the nose art to commemorate a downed Canberra B.20 crew during the Vietnam war

EDIT: Typo

Good photos. We are waiting for the RAF to get their's. It will supercede the aging Boeing Sentry.
So many models, so little time.

The last I heard, we were getting five, which will be joining Poseidon Aircraft at RAF Lossiemouth. The USAF are supposed to be moving into that base, too. It will be a bit busy by 2023. You can see some of the current fleet on Google Earth.
