The Spit looks good to me Chris.

Actually, I have a couple to build myself; a Mk.1 and a Mk.5, and I don't intend for them to be anything super. I'll be building them for my grandsons to hang on their bedroom ceiling so it'll only be a matter of time before one of them (the younger, I suspect) figures how to get them down

Thanks Guys. The photos make it look far better than it is. Since it was painted, it was dropped twice; and patched back up

That old classic looks absolutely spiffing, Chris!
What paints did you use?

Humbrol on inside and because it hadn't gone together as well as I had hoped I didn't waste my better thinner vallejo on, so I handbrushed as always with my models a mix of paint together for outside. 3 little starter pots gave me enough sky and a further 3 for the earth brown and the green was revell aqua freehand painted no masks.

So those who despise starter pots and claim them no good ... I rest my case.

You've made a really great job of that big Spitfire, Chris. I've read and heard plenty over the years with regard to how bad the Airfix starter paints are but I've never used them myself so can't comment - the old "don't knock it 'till you've tried it". Certainly the starter colours you have used here seem to have worked well enough.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I would agree with Chris regarding the Humbrol starter pots; I add them to the ordinary pots as they get used with no noticeable detrimental effects to date...

Thanks chaps. I am charging about a bit still trying to get things sorted still. We are optimistic for the future again this week. Modelling is still heavily curtailed, although I am trying to finish off a few stalled things (having washed them to get dust off)

I'm feeling encouraged by your big Spitfire to the extent that I may get mine out of the stash once I'm finished with my helicopter (which for something so small, is taking an extraordinary time to get finished ) although there is the classic Revell GB to consider... :???:

Apologies are now in order, and it is also time for an admission now on my absence for the past few months.

In short: End of July I our the house on the market, and got an acceptable offer within 2 weeks, then had a fraught couple months finding somewhere that ticked as many of the boxes as it could, finally found somewhere early October, by when the rest of the chain below us were getting a bit of a you know what on, and we pushed the process as much as we could to get it all done, and us all moved in the week before Christmas!!!

So Christmas this year was a bit chaotic as I was assembling Ikea furniture, (still got to get more ordered, now we are in, and have measured up the rooms etc,).
Hopefully I can in a few days time get some modelling started. Still got loads of boxes of kits to unpack but they are going to have to wait a few weeks until the furniture is ordered, delivered, and built, and then unpacked properly. I do have a bit of a clue where to find a matchbox kit at least, as I purchased a couple up at Telford, and they were then packed separately at the end, and can easily be re-found.

This is the kit I built on Christmas day

Congratulations on the move, and getting in before Christmas! 🍾🎉
I hope you all get settled in comfortably over the next few weeks, and look forward to seeing some output from your shiny new bench soon 👍
Best wishes
