HMS King George V 1/350

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Nice one Alan. Hope it all goes well with the treatment and looking forward to seeing more progress with KGV.

Progress is getting on, I’m currently building it in units, so the stand can be left for a while, I’m thinking using something like two .303 cartridges supporting on wood.

That looks great - these old battleships really were armed to the teeth and visibly so!

Wow ... you are really cracking along with this and it looks good. You should have this finished in a few days time, and probably ought to start and drop some hints anyday soon (as its nearly Fathers Day) for something else, as completed builds are always best displayed in pairs ;-) ;-)

PS: (wrong thread I know ....) but I'm hoping your going to tell me/us that you have taken up bellringing soon!

Sorry guys for not responding over the last couple of weeks, my side effects from radiotherapy kicked in slightly over the last two week’s giving me a minute amount of hair loss and a dry eye that made reading my iPad hard and my eye sore, but that’s now apparently all the side effects going.

The good news last Friday I visited a local wood store and found a nice off cut of Oak wood for the base of this ship and by chance I have an excellent friend who I worked with in the RN Fleet Air Arm since 1970, who is brilliant with wood work, I asked if he could change the edges and size and with hours he was around my house to see what he could do. Yesterday he called me to say it was finished.

Tomorrow I’m off to our local Gun Range to scrounge a couple of .303 brass used cases, I think cutting them down slightly should look OK with a nut and bolt through the centre.

She looks pretty good even without mounting her on the brass spindles, but I'm sure they will add nicely to the effect
Was the wood shop at Parrott Works by any chance?
Best wishes

As you can see it’s still being built in units and I have started adding the PE and I’m finding 1/350 much easier than 1/600.

I have picked up a bag of used .303 cases and will make a stand when I get brave enough and might even have a go at building a 1/400 card model ship just to have a break from this kit

Very tidily done. How many linear feet of railing will you be putting on to do the whole ship?
