HMS King George V 1/350

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

I need some thoughts as to colours for the ships boats, the period is after the war but before she got dragged to the scrap yard in 1957.

I’m thinking all having white top and lower hulls, with some top and insides brown, but what colours should be used on the upper hulls, Light Grey, Light Blue, Dark Blue or Black?

I think dark blue looks nice. Based on nothing but personal preference from known possible colours, and what I did for my Battle Class destroyer.

I quite like the idea of Dark Blue in the 70’s they often had their boats red or blue.

Hi Alan, looks absolutely amazing. I've been looking at this kit for a while, would you say it is worth getting, even without PE and so on that you have used?.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

I’m really enjoying the build, it’s a typical Tamiya kit and is easy to build with no need for filler. I gather Tamiya issues the ship as different ships, this model is as she was at the end of the war with no a/c or catapult that was replaced with the small boats mid ship and lots more weapons all over. The other version they issued has the walrus a/c and all the ships boats on the rear superstructure and less weapons.

The extras I bought was, 10 aluminium 14in guns (nice but not essential) and the PE brass that Railings and a huge improvement on the only poor part of the kit, the two large cranes.

I would say the PE guard railing makes a major upgrade.

Thanks David, I can now see the advantage of 1/350 ships the PE railings are so much easier to work with.

I’m really surprised at what a difference some of the PE does especially the large cranes.

For me, the railings and cranes are where PE makes the real difference even if the rest of any PE set is left untouched!
That said, folding the cranes neatly can be a real struggle but yours looks fantastic!
Best wishes
