Mark's workbench (wooden Board)

Post by utumno »

No fancy, dancy workbench for me - just a wooden board and a couple of boxes...

Current build is an ME109E7 (Airfix dogfight double 1/48) - saving the Spitfire Vb for the group build in August.

Decals and a few other bits to go on, and a little bit of weathering, perhaps.

Many thanks for all the positive comments - I can see that there's a great community here.

Decals, propeller, tail and wheels are now on - just need to add the cockpit glass, a very little bit of weathering and give it a matt coat.

I'll upload a pic or two in the next few days.

Complete - almost.

Apparently my particular batch of Humbrol 49 (Matt Varnish) is known for leaving milky/powdery residue, so I'll give it another coat from a different batch later.

Figures are from ICM Luftwaffe Ground Crew.

Excellent work Mark - that came out really well.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Humbrol Clears - especially the newer non-enamel based stuff. I had exactly the same issues with my bottle, which is why I ditched it.

Really great work, Mark, I like that a lot. When it comes to clear coats I'm the opposite to Stuart (usually I agree with him :ha: ) and resolutely stick to Humbrol and have yet to find an acrylic alternative that I'm happy with. I went off Humbrol paints a while ago (I'm gradually changing to acrylics) and don't feel that their recent enamels are a patch on their earlier stuff. As for the milky residue with Humbrol matt coat, all I can say is stir, stir, then stir some more. I use an airbrush to apply all of my main colours and clear coats and give it ten minutes stirring using a kitchen timer, thin with DIY store white spirit and then apply.
