Although I will probably build but one Hawk for the GB, I actually need:
Red/White/Grey Hawk T1 4FTS RAF Valley
Grey/Green Hawk T1A 63 Sqn RAF Chivenor
Red/WhiteBlue. Hawk T1 CFS RAF Valley
Black. Hawk T1W. 208 Sqn RAF Valley

That would give me significant colour schemes and units on which I flew the Hawk as a student or as an instructor.

A nice choice, Tony! If you are doing the 1/72 Airfix kit, surely you have time to do two...... :-D

Excellent! You are on the list, Shane!

Now, back in the day, I blitzed two of the old mould Airfix Hawks - can you get all four built in 6 weeks...? :-D

I wonder if I can get enthused about the various ‘box’ tail ends of the Hawk (3 that I remember!). I have a set of early seats with the dreadful w i d e head box - a nightmare for we QFIs as it made looking ahead (for landing etc) very challenging.

Something for UK folk only, and in 1/72 only

I moulded up some pilots in a Mk.10 seat in lead-based white metal.
Used in the front seat of the Hawk they add about 4.5g to 5g (depending on how you trim them)Image
Left; the resin seat with a pilot fitted, centre, the w/m copy, right, trimmed down to fit a Matchbox Hawk T.1, weighs in at 4.7g
The resin seat with pilot weighs in at 0.6g

I've a small stock of these and I can cast up more if needed
I'll make some of these available to UK members, for the cost of postage (2nd class large letter, would cover a number of them)
With one of these in the cockpit you only need another 2 or 3 g stuffed in the nose of the Airfix Hawk T.1
I've not used 2 in the cockpit yet but with two you'd need no other weight

If you want any, you'll get ones similar to the middle one. You'll need to trim them yourself to fit

The postage to US for a few of these would be £4.

and, btw, that Mk.10 seat is the same as used in the Tucano so this can be used in it too as the Airfix Tucano is a notorious tail-sitter without plenty of front end weight
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.
