Woooo, boy - that's an impressive collection! Are these purely for display or do you wargame?

I tried wargaming just recently and got confused with all the different elements going on, so I'll try a simpler scenario soon.

Your collection must exceed the Waterloo display at the British Army Museum !!

Thanks for your interest and feedback guys. Each figure represents 33 men and I've completed approximately 25% of those present at the battle. It has become apparent that I couldn't possibly set out the whole battle without hiring a warehouse for a year (or so), and that I should concentrate on finishing specific regiments who fought each other.

Awesome job.

It’s always awe inspiring to see massed ranks in miniature form.

Miniature goodness Ratch. Which brand and colour do you use for flesh?

I use various flesh brands Nigel, sometimes Humbrol 61 Flesh or 234 Dark Skin Tone, I also use Vallejo Model Color 70815 17 Basic Skin Tone, 70927 19 Dark Flesh, 70845 20 Sunny Skintone and/or 70860 21 Medium Fleshtone. I also have an Andrea Color paint set of six skin tones. I will often put two or three colours on a pallet so that each figure varies slightly and the colours gradually get mixed. Sometimes I dry-brush a contrasting tone to pick out highlights or I use Games Workshop 61-76 Flesh Wash to emphasise shadows.

I paint the uniforms in a similar manner. Dyes were not as stable as today and would vary from one bolt of cloth to another. Then with washing and weathering they would discolour and fade, so the uniform colours were not so uniform after all.

Thanks for the reply Ratch. I'll have to add a couple of those to my flesh palette.
