Re: Stephenson's Garrett
Loving the scratch building effort here. Glad you sorted the paintwork out as well.
Watching with interest!

Cracking work General; I particularly like the two footplate to fire box braces.

Re: Stephenson's Garrett
Still see able but I will be able to camouflage it a bit better when I can see how everything comes together nearer the finish.
The braces are standard to the kit, and just needed the seams cleaning up.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

Re: Stephenson's Garrett
Currently at a stage where much work, little progress. Such as cleaning the seams on the main springs, that will be mounted behind the driving wheels. One set was just a seam to clean, the other was slightly off register.
Before and after.

Springs ready to be fitted.
The springs are model color black with Mr Color dark Iron over the top and lightly polished.
The wheels nearly finished, paint just needs a little tidying up.

Re: Stephenson's Garrett
Lots of work as you say, but cleaning up parts the best you can always pays off on the final model.

Re: Stephenson's Garrett
The wood on the locomotives. The front locomotive has been weathered the rear is mid weathering. The base colour is Ammo mig "New Wood", AK interactive AK782 "Varnished Wood" was then used to weather the wood, I then dulled it down AK interactive AK778 "freshly cut timber". As it stands, it is not my intention to weather any other part of the model, though that may change as I proceed through the build.

Re: Stephenson's Garrett
Progress at last!
At long last the locomotives are standing on their own. I did have to thin the springs on the suspension on the driving wheels due to my poor maths (I have city and Guilds). The wooden part is also at a slight angle, but generally I am satisfied so far.
Next step will be the cylinder blocks.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Definitely not rushing, feeling my way through the project to make sure everything is "correct".
