Tamiya 1/24 Ford GT **Finished**
So, on with another build, this time back to four wheels and a more recent boxing from Tamiya.
As per usual the box and its contents.
The box.
The Destructions.
The plastic.
Transparent plastic.
The decals and window masks.
I will be using the Hobby Design Detail Up Set, just waiting for it to arrive.
Thanks

Re: Tamiya 1/24 Ford GT
Made a start during this afternoon.
As most people seem to do this in the red or blue, I already know the body work will be painted in Frozen White probably with the silver stripes. The interior will be a two tone black/grey and the accents in either a white or possible red.
Decided to start on the body first as the instructions show.
First thing is to get rid of the marking on the inside of the roof.
Cleaned up and laid out all the panels that will be in body colour.
Everything glued apart from the rear spoiler and rear top quarter panels.
I want to keep them separate for painting and will be fitted when finished.
So far all the panels are fitted where the real panels are fitted so no filling needed, except for two off on the bonnet in the centre of the curved sections. But the fit is very good so should be easy to sort.
Thanks

Re: Tamiya 1/24 Ford GT
Great to see another build from you, Alan. The GT is such a pretty car and sometimes it's hard to believe that it's made by the same company that has brought us (here in Europe at least) the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo - all worthy cars that have sold in great numbers but the GT looks more like the product of an Italian supercar manufacturer. You're off to a good start with the body shell and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this one.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

It does look a nightmare to paint without getting overspray everywhere, leaving off the rear wheel arches is a very sensible move.

Re: Tamiya 1/24 Ford GT
a good choice i built this a while ago and i left the rear arches off till after i painted as getting in behind them could be a bit tricky the kit itself did not show up any surprise`s it was a very enjoyable build and looks very good when finished looking forward to seeing you build this

Thank you people.
Went back and re-read your build Syd, I know I got this kit not long after your build.
Alan.........
Got a Focus, had a Mondeo, can't see me ever having a GT though, but totally agree with you.ShaunW wrote: ↑October 4th, 2021, 4:07 pm The GT is such a pretty car and sometimes it's hard to believe that it's made by the same company that has brought us (here in Europe at least) the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo - all worthy cars that have sold in great numbers but the GT looks more like the product of an Italian supercar manufacturer.

Re: Tamiya 1/24 Ford GT
Managed to get a fair bit done over the weekend.
The body and the loose body panels have been done in their base colour of Zero frozen white and the silver decals applied.
The side skirt panels have been done in Alclad black primer including the rear window outer frame.
The front grille kit part.
Grille part cut out.
Photo etch part glued in.
Same has been done for the back grilles. The P.E. was a little bit short so some 1mm square styrene was glued in. One side cut out.
Both sides completed.
Got the body work 2k cleared, although a little bit hard to really show without blowing out the white. The black side skirt parts were also 2k cleared.
The front and back grille pieces were done in Alclad black primer and fitted.
Also fitted the other P.E. grilles where needed, the front ones on the bonnet in Alclad black primer and all the other smaller ones left as is.
Just behind the front grille is a big tab that the chassis fits onto, instead of leaving it white I covered it in aluminium BMF.
The exhaust tailpipes sprayed in Zero titanium gold and fitted, I might yet blank them off on the inside.
The rear light surrounds have been done in Alclad gunmetal and Vallejo transparent red in the transparent parts.
Rear window inner frame is in Alclad black primer.
The main chassis has been painted in Alclad black primer, some parts of it need gloss clearing, the main suspension parts are in Alclad semi matt aluminium.
Thanks

Re: Tamiya 1/24 Ford GT
Top notch work as always, Alan, lovely smooth paintwork and great looking go faster stripes. The PE replacement grilles have made such a difference and I really like the detail painting of the exhausts and rear light clusters.

Re: Tamiya 1/24 Ford GT
Thank you people, appreciate you looking in.
Alan..........
Wish it was James, you'll soon see the marks on the front in a close up shot.
Thanks Stuart, just waiting for you to start that Lancia, you might push Jim into doing his.
Thanks Syd, of course it helped, confirmed any suspicions I had of how well the separate body panels would fit after painting. It's your fault i got the model anyway.syd-baines wrote: ↑October 17th, 2021, 3:28 pm looking good i hope it helped you when you reread my build
