Jaguar 420 by Bassman (finished)

Post by bassman »

Inspired by Matt's Jaguar 420 I started mine a few weeks ago. Progress is slow but I enjoy the build. It is years ago I added something to the forum so I hope it turns out fine.

For years I have picture of the 420 on my computer and when Airfix rereleased it I bought the kit when my LMS had it in stock.

The colour will be Willow Green with a two tone dark green interior. I didn't fill the ejector pin marks as you can't see them when the kit is finished (I hope). Not as skilled as Matt I had to rely on wood and instrument decals for the dashboard. I also added a wood decal to the middle console. If this is original I don't know but it looks nice.

Great to see one of you build again and it will be good to see how someone else tackles this kit. The instrument panel looks nice.

Nice colour combination, and it'll look very classy, I'm sure. Dash looks good... are those aircraft gauges, or do you happen to have a set of 1/32 car details? Like James, I'm looking forward to your progress, especially since I have an idea exactly what you're working with.
best,
Matt

Thanks for your compliments. Here is an update on the 420. Front and rear window are not glued in yet.

The 420 took a long time to finish (because of family issues) but here it is. It was nice to build this classic kit. I hope Airfix wil re-release more of these classics.

Great job. I love all Jaguar saloons but wish Airfix had also done the XJ6.
