Huddersfield, model kits & supplies stockists

Recommendations of all those increasingly rare LMS's in a town near you, so the rest of us can find them and marvel! Also, the places near you where blokes approach you, furtively clutching the latest SAMI and smelling of resin.

Huddersfield, model kits & supplies stockists

Post by JamesPerrin »

With the sad demise of Something Wicked This Way Comes, I thought I should mention that I recently checked out the only other source of kits in Huddersfield that I know of. This is Toyland on the Piazza, they only carry Airfix but have a very good range from Starter Sets all the way up to SuperKits and even a few 1/35 tanks. Annoyingly though they only have half racks of Humbrol paints both Acrylics and Enamels which means you'll have to go elsewhere any numbers greater than Hu110 (IIRC).

There are a couple of gaming (board/card/RPG etc) shops/venues in town, I'll scout them out when the opportunity arises as I've not had any reason to venture in before now.

So last week I checked out a couple of non-LMSs for model supplies.

First up is a small comic books shop in town called Ka-pow Comics https://www.facebook.com/kapowcomics/

- plenty of Warhammer kits but only a very small selection of Citadel paints and brushes but no glue I could see!

Next is the excellent Calder Art Supplies https://www.calderartsupplies.co.uk/ in the lovely Byram Arcade. This is a very well stocked art shop with some useful modelling supplies if no kits:
- small selection of Humbrol enamels
- craft knives and blades and handles
- poly cement, Humbrol, Revell, no Tamiya but they do have EMA Weld which I decided to try
- plastic card, including some large sheets
- K&S brass sheet and tubing
- some basic scenic scatter and stuff
