Tamiya 1/6 CB750 F (someone's got his mojo back)
As part of my kit reconciliation project I took a look inside this box last week and decided to just get on and build it. I will never be able to build them to the standard that Syd and Alan regularly show us, largely because I am too lazy and am not prepared to put in the effort, but I've decided to be happy with that and crack on regardless!
I was going to use the unpainted red plastic as the main body colour for the bike which looked rather nice after I'd dipped all the part in a Johnson's Klear bath, but I just couldn't live with the horrible seam along the fuel tank and thus destroyed the finish of the plastic while getting rid of it. I don't have the skills to polish it back to how it was before and I'm not even sure if that is achievable now, so I will paint the lot with rattle can sprayed Red instead.
I'm rally enjoying the build, especially using the screws and bolts etc. Hopefully once this is done I shall be in the mood to tackle the Tamiya 1/6 CB 750 Four - my favourite bike of all time!
Progress pics so far:
My old Airfix 1/8th scale CB 750 Four (which itself badly needs restoring) is used here for a size comparison.
The bare plastic looks good IMHO but shows up the horrible seam along the tank that I couldn't live with.
I got a very nasty shock when I cut out the decals for the battery and they immediately started to dissolve in the water. I rescued what I could here and immediately coated the rest of the sheet with liquid decal film. Now I just have to remember that it is effectively one huge decals and to cut and trim each one as I go!
Cheers,
Al.

Great to see some modelling from you Al. I often make a conscious effort not to sweat the small stuff and just crack on with the build. Though that really depends on what I’m building.

Never worry bout the decal on the battery - I never ever saw one with the printing on it looking proper and pristine
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Its great to see you get back to this.
If its done to your satisfaction, then its a job well done.
Look forward to seeing the rest of the build.
If you want them, I have the main decals left over from my build and they worked just great.
More than welcome to them.

Re: Tamiya 1/6 CB750 F (someone's got his mojo back)
The Blitzbau I did last week on the 1/12th CB750F has got me interested in reviving 1/6th this build once again, so here are the progress photos for the work done this week, which included installing the engine assembly in the frame and the all of the rear end work including constructing and painting the tyres. My paint work isn't too flash but I'm hoping that will give the bike a used rather than showroom look to it.
A lot of parts shown here still need painting by the way, but I was more impatient to get on with the build and leave the painting until later.
Cheers

More progress on the bike. Lots of metal parts with screws and nuts etc. - more like building a Meccano kit at time, but great fun though!
Cheers

It's good to see this build back on the go, Al and you are making great progress. I always rather liked these bikes in blue.
