Re: Ugears fire engine
Looks like a very detailed and intricate kit. Does a coat of paint affect the fit of any parts?

The tolerances on the moving parts are so slack I don't think so(I hope anyway)

Re: Ugears fire engine
Good idea, I think, helps blend in the edges of the pieces.
Fascinating project.

Hi all more work on this one.
Re: Ugears fire engine
Hi all, a little modification needed to make for smooth running.
I quite like the way it looks painted (far more interesting than wood)

Re: Ugears fire engine
Does the wood take the paint well, or does it require a couple of coats?

Re: Ugears fire engine
That was all done in one coat (don't want to get it too thick as it may impact the operating mechanisms)

I never even considered painting my ugears loco but it looks very effective.

Re: Ugears fire engine
There's far more work in the ladder assu than the bodywork and it's far more difficult to get a smooth action but I'm quite pleased with how it's working.

Nearing completion now, I may repaint the metal parts to look, well more like metal.

Looks great. Much better than the plain wooden kit.
