The Queen is dead. Long live the King.

A sad day but not unexpected. I honestly believe Charles will make a good King in these trying times.

Her Majesty dedicated herself to a full life of service to so many. Truly the end of an Era. I agree, King Charles is well prepared.

God Save the King.

Very sad news indeed - I'm still taking it in. RIP Queen Elizabeth II, you'll be greatly missed.

Long Live the King - I'm sure he'll do a outstanding job.

I am so sad and you may laugh at me, but I am not ashamed of my tears. The Queen was there for my whole life. She was a rock in times full of trouble. I will allways remember the photos of her as a trained mechanic. Imagine one of today`s leaders who gets his/hers hands dirty. She served her country and held back her own desires. Please, protect the free world reigning from the cloud you live in now, Ma´am.

Nothing to be ashamed of, I've shed a few myself.

I was born an ‘Elizabethan’, served my Monarch as an RAF pilot for 37 years. Am I a Royalist - of course; rest in peace Ma’am, you have served us well, above and beyond.

Truly the end of an era. Thank you Ma'am for your selfless service to a country and commonwealth that must at times to have appeared so ungrateful and unworthy of your devotion to duty.
You will be missed by people the world over.

God bless you Queen Elizabeth and God save the King
Best wishes

Same here. She's been part of the background to my whole life. I will miss her - even though I never met her.

Bit sad to see this thread didn't get a few more responses - bit of a poor show UAMF...

Agreed Stuart, after a lifetime of devotion to the nation I think we could have mustered a slightly better response...
Best wishes

Very sad news. Spent yesterday afternoon watching the TV coverage on several channels over here. She served admirably, and honourably, and some of those looks she gave to Philip as a young Princess ... Lucky man.
