Leeds Model Show 2023 (nee Huddersfield/Halifax) CANCELLED

Post by JamesPerrin »

I am delighted to let you know that IPMS Wakefield will be hosting a show next year. Neither of our previous venues in Huddersfield or Halifax is available to us but in looking for a new venue, we have fallen on our feet:

The Leeds Scale Model Show.

New Dock Hall.
Royal Armouries, Leeds.

10am till 4pm, 19th February 2023.

Armouries Drive
Leeds
United Kingdom
LS10 1LT

We can do this, we think, in the same economic model as previously: that is to say, no charges for clubs, and no change in charges for traders. There will be an open competition.

There are a number of things to finalise, and we haven't made a poster yet! So, more details to follow.

We will be sending invitations to clubs, SIGs and traders who previously attended our show in the next several days. If you are a club, SIG or trader who has not previously attended, please e-mail us your name, postal address and telephone number, if you would like an invitation.

Geoff Milnes: gamilnes@btinternet.com
Alan Paul: alanbpaul@gmail.com

I do hope you'll come.

Alan

I'm planning for Classic British Kits SIG to attend as this is my local (not as local as it used to be) show.

It would be really cool to see you there. I returned the forms when I got back from Telford.

I'll be there as a day visitor with my son but can still bring a few things for the CBK table. Do you know what size table you've been given yet James?

This sounds excellent and the armouries is closer to me than Huddersfield or Halifax, which is a bonus. I'll do my very best to get there and given the Telford theme, I can bring my small collection of MB military vehicle builds for the CBK stand if they will be of use to you, James.

No, I don't expect a response till after Christmas as the deadline for application is 23rd Dec. If there is more space than a standard West Yorkshire sports hall then we might finally get the 12' I've requested every year instead of the 6' we are always given!

I've just seen a post on BM from one the the club members that the show has been regrettably cancelled! One of the main organizers has had to pull out due to family issues and there as been a lack of traders committing to the show that meant it would run at a loss.

This is a severe blow to modellers up North ( yeah I know that is still plenty of North beyond West Yorkshire ) as is was one of the biggest shows after SMW and was a great chance for many UAMF/CBK members to meet up. I'd been really looking forward to it as it would be the first one since lockdown.

There is the Bolton Show on the 22nd Jan and I will look at attending as punter.

Oh buggeration; got a hotel booked for this and time off work; so has Tom.

I understand that these things happen but there's nothing on their Facebook page and no-one has thought to send out e-mails :frown:

Really sorry to hear that Daz. I only happened to spot it on BM.

The only bit of good news is that someone was a bit to quick to sight lack of traders and Alan who has had to step down has said things were financially sound.

I'm glad you did bring it up James. I could have been heading for Leeds in a few weeks with no show to go to
