Named after weather/climate GB ** On the 2024 Calendar!**

Post by TeeELL »

I’ve seen something on FB where the author was asking after models ‘weather related’, I wondered if it might be a theme we could consider for 2024?
Without creating a complete list, names that spring to mind:
Cirrus
Tornado
Whirlwind
Lightning
Tempest
Typhoon
Hurricane
Cyclone
Nimbus
Thunderbolt
Nakajima Ki-84
Achi S1A Denko
Kawanishi H11K
Kawanishi J6K
Arado Blitz

and so forth

OK, to be fair the Japanese aircraft didn’t ‘spring to mind’ - I’d never heard of them and anyway, kits for them are not likely to be available!

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Sounds like a good idea...
I'll add the SARO Cloud to the list (although I've already built one)
Best wishes

Got that covered.

Supermarine Snowshower then?
Hawker Heavysnow
Bristol Blizzard
Westland Whitestuff

Back on a serious track we could have
Chinook
Mistral
Sirocco
Maestro

within the overall concept.

Given that there are quite different aircraft sharing the same name, the list becomes much larger eg Lockheed Lightning, EE Lightning (the one true lightning), Lightning II, N1K2 Shinden, Arado Blitz.

Not yet but there is a Russian anti-shipping missile named BLIZZARD and the target acquisition radar on later Buks is SNOWDRIFT. Was looking through NATO reporting names to see if any aircraft popped up...only found:

Haze Mil Mi-14
"Mist" Tsybin Ts-25
