Re: Caricature Kit S-B *** Open***
I am going to stick my neck out and say my build will be finished today. The transfers have been applied, with the exception of the under wing cockades (they require the upper half of the wing to be fitted) the Humbrol Matt Cote has caused the transfers to blend very nicely with the ‘not black’ black finish. I am just waiting for the Matt Cote to dry.

Re: Caricature Kit S-B *** Open***
I have applied all the decals to the AFV Club F-5E and given it a flat coat. I have also added a little cockpit detail in the form of a gunsight from clear acetate painted with Mig Ammo crystal green, and an ejection seat overhead firing handle from aluminium wire. Johnny Pilot is happy.
I have also snapped the canopy into place...
I shall be finishing this as an in flight model, so I had better get cracking (see what I did there) on a suitable base.
I was also thinking it would be quite nice to display two of them, on the same base, in different Aggressor schemes, and as there are two kits in the box so it's technically still the same kit...

Outstanding, and a very fine example of how good these kits can look in the right hands. Well played, sir.

Great job on the Lancaster Tony, and the F5 is looking good to Steve
Best wishes

Yes, good job Tony & Steve.
I will be bringing the B-24 back into active. I found a sheet of Avery stickers, 1/4" in size, in 4 colors, and I have a 1/4" hole punch to deal with the white sticker labels - and there are two schemes in the assembly ship book that will work.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Re: Caricature Kit S-B *** Open***
I have completed the second F-5E, in another Taiwan AF Aggressor scheme. This time, a lo-viz "tiger" scheme, using the kit decals which allow for this scheme to be done, even though it is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. I have based it upon a real life Aggressor scheme used by the Taiwanese AF.
Colours are Light Ghost Gray FS36375, and Aggressor Gray FS36251 for the main camo. The radome is Ocean Gray (or Mod Eagle Blue, if you prefer) FS36176, and the yellow is RLM04. All courtesy of Vallejo's ModelAir range.
I have used tip tanks rather than Sidewinders, and the tanks were cobbled together from various bits and pieces from the bin. They do not have the characteristic "wasp waist" shape of real F-5 tanks, but they are good enough for me. Again, Johnny Pilot has been given a gun sight and a means of emergency egress.
He is, of course, not "Johnny Pilot" at all, as we already used Johnny Pilot as his wingman, and this is in fact Johnny Pilot's brother, Bob.
The finished model sits quite nicely alongside its SEAC camo'ed Aggressor squadron mate, and I shall mount them both on a suitable base tomorrow in an in flight pose.
An attractive and rather amusing pair of models, and a lot of fun to build.

Calling the Panther V done. The dots were applied with micro applicators supplied by my friendly Dental Hygienist.
And here is the collection so far. The driver in the Tiger I is 1/35 scale which added to the caricature of the subject I think.

Great builds Tony, Steve and Jeff.
I've made a start on the F-16. The fuselage halves have been stuck together and the fin added.
