A lucky find.

Got something to say about the hobby of model making?

A lucky find.

Post by Chuck E »

Hi folks,

Just received some old kits courtesy of Ebay. I had bid for these old kits as I wanted the really old Mossie with the huge machine guns, and original tool Anson, albeit in an odd colour scheme that matched the box art. The Hamden was going to be rebuilt as one of the spare schemes I have decals for. When browsing the photos, I realised that it wasn't Airfix, it was the very rare FROG Fit the Box models that I have been after for a while. Some other bidder kept bidding, so I increased my bid and got it. I had the feeling that he had seen the FROG kit, too. The silver Mossie is actually a FROG Kit, too.

It arrived today. As you can see, it will need some work, but it will be well worth the effort.

Here are the others.

From the previous purchase, two more very old models. One of the oddly scaled kits, the Dragon Rapide, and a 1/72nd Proctor. I have tidied up the paintwork a little and tried a few home made decals. I have the engine fronts and props. The rigging was cotton, so that was replaced with sprue. New decals for the codes and cheatline were made, The canopy is in good order, not being painted.

I think this can be saved. The canopy is a suffering from tube cement, but all should be well.

The other kits were a FROG Supermarine SB6, Spirit of St Louis, and DH88 Comet. They will all be tidied up.

A good find, and another of my Grail Kits added to the stash.

I just need to remove the enamel from the Anson and don't want to sand it off, as it's the original tool.

The original Mossie looks just as a CBK from the 50's should look, but I must replace the decals.

So many models, so little time.

A very interesting collection and well done for winning.
It's only pain, work through it.

I have just picked up a pair of 1/1200 Eagle battleships, Warspite and Queen Elizabeth, plus a very early 1/600 Cossack for £4.99. I just don't think people know what they are selling.
So many models, so little time.

Luckily for us, occasionally.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!
