I have printed the early 30 ton trailer but I have also been sent the 20 ton. I shall print that later.

Just to confirm re the wheels on this tractor TRMU 20 were 15.00 x 20 rear and 10.50 x 20 front. The works drawing shows a slight down nose slope because of the smaller front wheels. They were given a new lease of life mid war with a new 30 ton trailer to replace the original 20 ton version. That was designed by Shelvoke and Drewry. I've recently built a model of that trailer hitched to this Scammell tractor and the Diamond T in both open and closed cab versions based on the old Matchbox/Revell model.

Ha!,
I realised this afternoon t’was you. I am going to print the 20 ton trailer to match with this and the 30 ton trailer, that I have printed, I will hitch to my original ‘MOLLY’, just hope I can remember which paint I used! Lol.

Following an observation from the designer I need to replace the ‘pressed steel’ Air-filter with an early style ‘cast’ version.

I have a line-up of Scammells:

Left to right my ‘old school’ enhanced Airfix TRMU30, 3D parts enhanced Airfix and finally the all resin TRMU20.

Oops, I’ve fitted a part on the ‘green’ one incorrectly!

A fairly noticeable difference between the Airfix and resin versions is the too small forward doors on the Airfix kit.

Hi Tony,
The trio looks good. The 3D-printed cab lacks the upper canvas flap at the rear and the side curtains have somewhat artificial look IMHO. I mean both sides are too uniform and reminded me theater stage curtains. No drama, of course, the upper flap can be added and the side curtains modified a bit.
I still wonder aren't the front wheels of the 20-ton tractor too small? The 10.50-20 tyre outside diameter may vary depending of the manufacturer and tread type so let's take the average outside diameter of 41,5", in 1/76 this is 13.8 - 13.9 mm.
(Just to make the things clear: on TRMU/TRCU 30 the tractor front wheels and the trailer wheels are bigger, for 13.50-20 tyres)
Cheers!

If you look at the 2 TRMU 30s you will see that they have 13.50x20 tyres on the front axle. The TRMU 20 resin model is fitted with the 10.50x20 tyres.
The model wheels measure slightly undersize at 13.5mm, but only based on your calculations, the designer researched them as well and is 100% content they are the correct scale size - good enough for me.

The somewhat ‘saggy’ walking beams of the resin model are due to an error on my part - rushing instead of testing before fitting!

I’ve completely forgotten to add the trailer which I separated from the print supports and assembled today!

These are the separated parts, not that many because a lot of finer detail is actually already part of the main body

Following assembly of the parts, this is the end result:

If any of you might be interested in getting a copy of this ‘kit’, please let me know and I will see if I can persuade the designer to correct the parts as appropriate, perhaps create 2 print plates for the tractor and make the model available for sale.

I have received a couple of files that allowed me to print an early version of the 30-ton trailer. I will be able to attach it to one of my Airfix conversions :).

I am now building a second of these resin models, this time painted suitably. I plan to have this ready for the model show at the R.E.M.E museum on Oct 7th.
