DKM Prinz Eugen - Airfix 1:1200
DKM Prinz Eugen - Airfix 1:1200
Although the kit was first offered in 1977, the shapes are still reasonably convincing. The kit provides a welcome base for building a more refined model and it should be noted there is no other kit of the Prince to this scale.
The simple but coherent kit was revised by me in some areas:
Especially the turrets Bruno & Caesar had to be changed in shape.
The funnel is designed too concisely and had to be adapted to the real appearance.
The rigging was done with Uschi van der Rosten's elastic threads.
The Prinz Eugen wore the chosen "camouflage paintwork" during Operation Rheinübung after leaving the Norwegian coast. The originally black stripes were still faintly visible.
With the models of this scale, I generally do without attaching a railing. Even the fine execution of Tom's Modellworks still seems to me like a garden hedge on the model, which has a negative effect on the lines of the ship.

Nicely done
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Both models are very nicely executed, especially considering the small scale.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
