Sherman Tank GB ** On the 2024 Calendar!**

Post by PaulBradley »

I just bought a Tamiya 1/35 Sherman Easy Eight, for the princely sum of $8. Do you know what we've never had? A Sherman tank GB! I couldn't believe that when I checked.....

This could be a neat GB - single type (albeit with a wide range of options!), all scales, armour (which we don' t have many of), lots of markings and colour schemes possible. Ticks a lot of boxes in what we've been looking for as something a bit different.

So this would be all types based on the Sherman chassis - gun tanks, SPGs, APCs, later rebuilds, 'Funnies', movie stars, etc. Any era, all scales, any kit.

Who would be interested?

Welllllllll, building an MBT in 1/35 is on my modelling to do list, and I also happen to have the Tamiya easy eight kit in the stash, so yes I'd be in - it might give me the kick I need to actually do it.

Having jumped in with both feet, I must admit that I'm by no means certain that I've actually got one in the stash (other than the new Airfix Firefly and old tool Calliope) I shall have a look to see what I can find
Best wishes

I don't have one in the stash (built two last year) but I'm sure I can rustle up something. Unlikely to beat that USD8 price though.

I assume 2024 ?

I don't do Germans or Shermans :)

I have lots of 1/35 but it is mostly WW1, Artillery, Engineer, Wheeled, British , etc. The closest and only thing is an M31-T2 which is based on the M3 Lee, the closest I get to an M4.

I would have to look at M4 options, but don't put me down yet.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

So I guess you won't do a German Sherman then...? :ha:

Yes, this would be in the mix for 2024.

I have the Airfix 1/72 Sherman Firefly starter set.
I doubt it will be built any time before this GB comes around, so maybe count me in
I also have a few of the old Airfix 1/76 Shermans
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Definitely in - this year has been my year of discovering 1/35 armour and I'm very much enjoying it. Even Hobbycraft over here have some reasonably priced Tamiya Shermans - I bought one back in April but can easily source a fresh one for the GB. I may well save up my pennies for a Takom or Andy's Hobby Headquarters 1/16 "Easy Eight"!
