I've got quite a list; from Argentine Mirage III to Columbian APCs, and Mexican armored cars. I may also have a Dominican A-37 in the stash. It's going to be hard to chose just one.

Thanks Paul and John , welcome aboard Ralph I like the sound of the Dominican A-37 though it would also be nice to have some vehicles in the GB at present I’m thinking of building a delta winged bird either Eucador,Colombia or Argentina

Cool! I just realised I picked up an Encore 1/48 A-37 that has two different Latin American options!

Ralph's workbench thread reminds us all that the Panama Canal is, of course, in this region and has ripe possibilities. Would anyone be brave enough to do a Canal diorama? There are model container ships out there.....

Unfortunately I think my only container ship model is a British coastal vessel, but that does give me ideas.

Actually, your comment got me thinking.

Currently, there is no N-S road not blocked (not open 24-7) by the Canal (although that may have changed, a new bridge was under construction) so if this dio happens it will be historical.

Anyway at certain times during the day both locks closed (we were at the east opening/end when happened and it was really neat). Anyway, canal traffic stopped, the canal gates closed, a roadway ran atop the gates thus creating a N-S connection, and vehicle traffic scurried across - about 15 or 20 min later the bells started ringing, the vehicles stopped, the gates opened and the N-S road was closed for several hours (IIRC). When the gates were open (canal or roadway) there was no speeding, but no lagging, to get through. It may have been the neatest part of the canal trip.

I have been poking around in my Scale Scenes N-gauge stuff With the idea of creating a mini-scene from their narrow boat kits, or at least using the locks and stuff in a copier to make something bigger with a couple cargo ships. Still playing ... if, of course, our esteemed GBL allows such stuff

Paul - who makes container ships in styrene? The only one I know of is that Revell Colombo, in some itty bitty 1/1200 scale, or something similar.

I'd love to build a cargo vessel with the giant onboard cranes, or something like the LNG carriers with their giant on-deck storage structures.

Ralph, Scales Scenes make them in card, N-Gauge and 00-Gauge. As card models they are scaleable and infinitely reproducable.

I have a few card model merchant ships in 1/400 from JSC. As I mentioned elsewhere, they're nice looking kits, but I've never been successful in finishing one.

I wonder if the card parts can be successfully transferred to sheet stryrene?

Easily. Copy the card parts then glue (PVA) them onto thin sheet styrene. ILO PVA use Elmers Exterior wood glue to avoid shrinkage. Cut along edges, glue however, use color pencil or acrylics to color the edges, etc.

I've been thinking about this and I will take part with the Special Hobby CASA C-21 in either Chilean or Columbian Markings, that fits in with my theme of twin engine aircraft

I'll be in with an A-26 or B-26 Invader in appropriate markings, Chile or Brazil or some such. The scale will depend on what decals I acquire first!
