Hello from south east coast of U S A
I am John and originally resided in New England, currently exiled to Florida due to retirement, but have family from a few centuries back in Old England. My mothers family came here from Yorkshire on a boat called the "John of London" Fast forward to 20th century and I was born and started fiddling with glue and plastic in the mid 1960s. I dabble in everything from aircraft to monsters and Airfix to Zvezda. My primary interests are early jets and some occasional WWII aircraft with a preference to Lancaster bombers, Japanese Zeros and Luftwaffe 109s. I am retired so I have time now to spend building a bit more than in the past.

Hi John and a warm welcome to the forum. I have also retired recently but my model building rate is not particularly seeing the benefit just yet - something I must seriously try to address! Hope you enjoy your time with us here.

I think I read about it in the Hull maritime museum.

Hello John and welcome, there is a wealth of experience on this site which I'm sure you'll enjoy tapping into. I look forward to your builds.
It's only pain, work through it.

Thanks for that information on the ship. My family history states my 7th great grandfather was Robert Stiles was born in Yorkshire in 1637 and was a ward of Rev, Ezikiel Rogers . When his parents arrived is a bit muddy to me. His father, John Styles, died in Hartford CT in 1662. I know Robert was the first constable of Boxford MA. I think the John Of London was about the size of the Mayflower?Gregers wrote: ↑October 1st, 2023, 4:03 pm Hi John and welcome to the forum from (not so) sunny Yorkshire.

Hi John,
From the looks of drawings of the ship it does indeed look roughly the size of Mayflower. I am not a ship guy as such, more ww2-80's aircraft to be honest. This has, however got me intrigued if I get some time spare this week I will ry dig up some more info.
