Tamiya 1/35 Sherman M4A3E8

Post by Battletweety »

Hi All, just adding to my 1/35 armor collection. I saw this in the shop and noted some good reviews about the kit so gave it a go.
Kit goes together fabulously like Tamiya kits do. No fit issues anywhere.
I initially tried using Tamiya XF62 Olive Drab but the colour is way too dark for a WW2 US Army tank so I resprayed with SMS Light Green RLM82 which gave the green colour I was after and then weathered it down using pigments. Nice kit overall and happy with the result.

That's a very fine Easy Eight. 8-) The metal finish on the tools is spot on, what did you use there?

Thanks B4en. For all my armor scale tools I use Tamiya Xf-56 Metallic Grey and then go over it with Tamiya Panel Line Wash - Brown.

The finish looks good - tools, etc, as noted by other - Well Done.

But is the track on correctly ? It seems the left side is running correctly, but the right side reversed ? I haven.t built this kit or used the T66 track before so I might be wrong.

I do like the Easy Eight version of the Sherman and that's a good looking build, BT, but I feel John is right about the tracks, the plates on each side should run the same but which way I can't remember.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Well spotted on the tracks. I'll need to check that. Thankfully an easy correction for whichever side is wrong.
