Hello

Post by Billoddy »

Hello all
I’m Mark (or Bill if you knew me in the RAF). Just getting back into modelling as a way of not thinking about the big ‘C’ which is unfortunately not playing the game and taking me away bit by bit.
I spent 25 years in the RAF which I suppose is influencing my choice of kits to build. I’ve started with trying to find a 1/144 model of each type of aircraft I’ve worked on stumped only now by a Navy version of the EH101 Merlin. I’m sure one will turn up eventually. Living in Lincoln I had to build a WW1 tank so that was the last build on a small vignette. Next will be the Airfix 1/72 chipmunk which is almost as old as me!
Hoping to gain some inspiration and tips as well as dreaming about the detail and skill I see on here.
Cheers
Mark.

Welcome aboard Mark!
I'm up in North Somercotes, but get in to Lincoln now and again; do you use the model shop at the bottom of the Steep at all?
Best wishes

Jim

G'day, Mark.
Great to hear that you are getting stuck in.
No better hobby than this to help you focus on what you love.

Cheers,

Hello Iggy
Yes I use that shop whenever I can, better to support a local business where possible and they seem really nice people.
It’s been a steep (and expensive!) learning curve buying all I need again but apart from paint I’m pretty much there now.
Looking forward to seeing all the other great builds on here.
Cheers

Welcome Mark, we have a couple of things in common, ex RAF, mainly helicopters and also have the big C. Wonder whether there's a link to all those dodgy chemicals we used to spray all oer the place. Enjoy the modelling and there're a lot of very knowledgeable helpful people on this site.
It's only pain, work through it.
