Trumpeter 1/700 HMS Renown

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Trumpeter 1/700 HMS Renown

Post by Bissyboat »

Got this kit from Modelzone hobbyshop in 2011. Built this battlecruiser last year when the Russian attack on Ukraine totally shocked the world. As a response to the war, countless "Ghost of Kiev" Mig 29 models were dished out from the assembly line with the familiar digital camouflage, we know too well. I wanted to do something similar with the Ukranian colours. Please don´t confuse the colour scheme with IKEA. 🤣 So here´s my tribute to the many brave fighting for their country and freedom. Brushpainted model with free hand digital camouflage. PEs from Eduard. Aerials on forward and mizzenmast scratchbuilt and rigging executed with stretched sprue. Weathering with artist oils and Pigma micron pen.

Well, that's certainly different! The digital camouflage works well, and kudos for all the rigging 👍
Best wishes

Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Brush painted, you say? I think I'm going to sell my airbrush and take up macrame! That is a very impressive build. I'm not a ship modeler, but I know outstanding work when I see it. Not familiar with this ship, so I had to look her up- thanks for the opportunity to learn something new. Looks similar to HMS Repulse, which was sunk in the Pacific with Prince of Wales. Was she a sister ship? (I need to stick to airplanes!)

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for the kind words. I think HMS Renown was the sister ship of Repulse. They were both battlecruisers. 8-)

WOW, I just LOVE the creativity of applying a digital camou scheme to the old battlecruiser - an unusual but fitting tribute to Ukranian resistance! And brush painted to boot... well done, sir!
