Joan Crawfords Cadillac Town Car
Bought from SMW this V16 was owned by the actress Joan Crawford and is apparently one of 3 built.
I bought it as a Christmas project.

Re: Joan Crawfords Cadillac Town Car
The boxart it looks a bit elongated compared to the kit parts so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. I assume the screen star is from MiniArt?

The frame was built first, given a quick spray with matt black primer, and then dry brushed with Airfix semi gloss black enamel.
The unfinished engine. Colours so far have been taken from the Web.
The running boards and fenders where sprayed with a matt white primer with a coat of white car paint from a rattle can.

Joanie certainly liked to travel in style! Looking forward to seeing this progress.
The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

I was imagining her turning up at the Oscar's in that, under the bright California sunlight. Not trying to get noticed of course.

I can imagine that too and it would be a good way to arrive in style now, certainly besting one of those modern stretched limo thingies!general rocket wrote: ↑December 29th, 2023, 3:30 pmI was imagining her turning up at the Oscar's in that, under the bright California sunlight. Re: Joan Crawfords Cadillac Town Car
The roof is really a soft top, but I prefer the look of the hard top.
I fixed the two body sides and roof/rear together and filled the gaps along the roof which where quite pronounced, then sanded back the filler and the fabric patterning of the rag top.
As I write this the body as it stands is in my garage having received a coat of white car paint from a rattle can.

Re: Joan Crawfords Cadillac Town Car
Only little bits of work done here and there, thanks to a virus that I picked up for the holiday that made uploading more trouble than it was worth at the time.
The frame is largely complete. A few items will be left off as the fit of some items (exhaust pipes) is not so easy. When I built this kit previously (about 4 decades ago) I seem to recall a similar problem.
The frame and the running board have been joined together and are looking good for it. Both need a little bit of tidying up.
The work on the body work is largely complete, alterations to the roof, and sprayed with a base coat and a white car paint and then topped it off with car Polish.
The interior panels.

Re: Joan Crawfords Cadillac Town Car
A minor annoyance, the rear interior panels didn't fit correctly when fitted in the location pins. Nothing that could not be cured by 10 minutes with a scalpel.
