Andrew's Tea Tray 2024
Last year was a bumper year for completions, with 27 finished models. This year I plan to build a couple of 1/32 Spitfires, which will take a bit longer to finish than the usual 1/72 fare.
Still to finish this year is the Hobbyboss 1/700 USS Arizona, which is 95% complete. One mast to add, and a PE crane to make.
Over on the Road and Track GB, I started the Airfix E-Type Jag starter kit on 31st December.

Some primer has been sprayed on, and some details painted. The wheel spokes have come up nicely with a bit of steel drybrushed over dark grey primer.

That's a great effect on those wheels, Andrew. I've never finished a car model in my long and *cough* illustrious modelling career and these 1/43rd Airfix kits would seem to be a good place to start. Try not to improve the jokes too much, they are part of your charm

Re: Andrew's Tea Tray 2024
This is only my second car kit (after the Tamiya Citroën 11CV). It seems a very nicely designed kit. I really like the sprue attachment points being in places which are not visible on the complete model.ShaunW wrote: ↑January 1st, 2024, 6:42 pm That's a great effect on those wheels, Andrew. Re: Andrew's Tea Tray 2024
Added the speedometer and tachometer decals to the dashboard.
The transparencies have had the floor polish treatment, and I've given the seats a light rust wash, to try and give a subtle difference to the red. The luggage rails in the back might need to be highlighted in black.
I've made no attempt yet to make the exhaust manifolds look more realistically weathered.

Covid is slowing me down quite a lot
I definitely don't feel up to airbrushing stuff today.

Re: Andrew's Tea Tray 2024
Thanks It has knocked me back a bit. I've been able to do a bit of work at the kitchen table on this:
Thought I might have a go using the starter kit paints and a minimal tool set.
The paint is adequate. But the choice of main body colour, satin light grey, does not thrill me at all for 007's car! After multiple coats of the thinned paint:
This is one of the originals, on display in Jersey in 2008.
