Re: Howard happy place 2024
I think the Handley-Page kit generally needs a lot of straightening - mine certainly does and I haven't even started it yet! Good luck with the upper wing Howard.
The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

Re: Howard happy place 2024
There's plenty going on here, H! I can't think of a way of correcting the 0/400 wing issue without stripping it down. I've corrected minor warps in wings and fuselages over the years by dousing the offending parts in very hot, but not boiling, water and pressing the parts against a flat surface. I've found it takes more than one attempt - it is a bit old school but it has worked for me although, of course, I make no guarantees. If you give it a go please be careful not to (a) melt the parts and make things a whole lot worse or (b) get scalded!

Re: Howard happy place 2024
I have missed progress recently - not sure why. The HP wings are a problem: when I built my kit about a decade ago the fuselage parts were warped and had to be straightened with clamps as they dried out. It looks to me as though the wings could only be straightened by taking them apart and starting again as they are rather large. I am not sure that cutting them to make a groove would work, but it might be worth a try.

Re: Howard happy place 2024
Well I'm glad to say I managed to straighten the offending wing. I had to remove it from the struts without doing too many dramas.
Cheers Howard

Really nice save. How did you straighten it? Was the wing warped or were the struts uneven? In your photo from Feb 24th it looks almost like the middle wing section is what's sloping down to starboard, unevenly. Weird visual effect?

Re: Howard happy place 2024
Thanks chaps. The upper left wing was warped, but exaggerated by the wing centre section being slightly uneven (I would have been better to assemble the whole wing as a single unit instead of following the destructions)
I was able to remove the upper wing without destroying the struts .I was able to separate the three sections of wing and reglued it.. I cut grooves in the warped section then filled said grooves with revell plasto. I left it on a flat surface with some weight on over night.
Cheers Howididit

Re: Howard happy place 2024
Super recovery. I now remember (too late to be of use of course!) that I assembled the complete upper wing before fitting to the struts as I had read that the centre section to outer panel joints were poor. They were.
