Pretty in Pink....?

Post by DazDaMan »

I found this old Starfix Spitfire kit in my spare room, and decided to put it together. Didn't bother with the cockpit bits (they're awful anyway!) and painted the interior of the canopy black. I based the paint scheme on the aircraft I've been working on a short story about, and it was done with Revell Aqua-color acrylics - a dash or two of red, liberally mixed with white. It's maybe a bit *too* pink, but I like it.

The decals are useless in the kit, so the spares box was liberally robbed for something suitable.

The Starfix Spitfire is notorious for being an absolute dog, but it looks OK with a bit of work.....

It looks more like a Spitfire than I thought a Starfix kit would. Nice pink!

That's a remarkable build considering what you had to work with...😲
Best wishes

Looks a lot like a fast assembly kit with the lack of details. But I think that without it brings out the pink. Great work on a unique paint job!

Nice work. Reminds me of the PR Mark IV(?) currently on show in the restoration space in the AirSpace hangar at Duxford. The nose is wrong for that mark, but it is a Starfix kit... ;-)
