The Airfix 2024 Range Announcement Thread
Airfix will be announcing their 2024 range at 4PM UK time today. As one of the big brands that most of us enjoy, please feel free to discuss here - but do keep it civil, please!
Personally, I'm hoping for a 1/24 Sea Fury - well, you never know!

Pshaw! - it should be in The Gentleman's Scale......
The great thing about opening this thread so late is that there is little time for wishlisting!

The Shannon is a good choice, B24H and Chinook look interesting the bulldog is in a good scale for a biplane I've never owned any of the vintage classics apart from the Mustang.
Good list all in all.

Re: The Airfix 2024 Range Announcement Thread
Subject to whatever additional surprise releases crop up through the year, I'll take the Chinook, B24 and Bulldog, and probably the lifeboat, also the P.1127
Best wishes

Airfix 2024 classic vintage classic P1127
Hi Folks
I requested this to Airfix staff at Duxford, but that does not mean they are listening to us modellers, because if they were they would have introduced a new tool Jaguar FGR 1
Anyyway I still have my '70s P1127, it's cockpitless and probably needs a new tool canopy. It will probably stimulate some conversion articles on how to convert it to a Kestral. So I hope decal manufacturers are researching the options for both.
It's heavily rivited, however comes with a choice of nose prob at bow and parachute housing for the stern. For knowing which part to use. I recommend Tony Buttler's 2017 book.
I would describe the 2024 releases as 'safe'

I wonder whether they sorted out the rotation of the heads on the Beledere. (They are not built as contra - rotating on the kit)
It's only pain, work through it.

Re: The Airfix 2024 Range Announcement Thread
Vintage Classics are not updated, except for the replacement of clear parts that had been lost. So I would not expect that to be corrected, nor the incorrect tail design, etc.
The decal choices are also the same as in the old boxings, only - of course - they are actually useable!

Re: The Airfix 2024 Range Announcement Thread
The Bulldog is the favourite for me, but I will be getting the Chinook and Liberator, too, I suspect. The new lifeboat is a must. Especially with this card kit appearing from Scalescenes. https://scalescenes.com/product/t040b-lifeboat-station/ They have a lifeboat and some other vessels, which could mean a decent little diorama. All to be downloaded within minutes, for very good prices.
The starter kits look good, too, so a few Bf 109Fs and P-51Ds to get. The grandchildren are showing a bit of an interest in these. The QB Tanks will appeal to the boys.
A lot of the re-decalled releases are going to join the stash, as will HMS Ajax and HMS Iron Duke. I'm going to have to get the 00 Scale Guards Band and Colour Party, just for the nostalgia. Dad bought me these back in 1960.
I feel a little let down on the reissues, to be honest, but the current 'Surprise' releases may sort that out. I see where they are going, so they must be taking time to review what tooling is around. Shame SS France, the Marina, and others are beyond repair.
Over on the Hornby Railways site, there are lots of new schemes. Not many actual locos, though. Locomotion No1 is a new tool, ready for the 200th Anniversary of the first Steam hauled passenger train of 1825. There are a few suitable coaches, too, but not those actually used. Maybe they'll turn up in time for the Jubilee. Our whole Railway Quarter, Hopetown, Darlington, is really starting to look good, with all the original buildings being renovated ready for the big event. Shame about the Logo. https://www.hopetowndarlington.co.uk/
The TT120 range is pushing on, too. Quite a lot of new stuff. At least, Hornby stockists can actually sell the range, at last.
Let's see what the year brings. A 1/24th P-47D didn't make its appearance.

So many models, so little time.
