Fixing those edges is the right thing to do.

The edges are still not finally filled but that will follow soon. Meanwhile I test fitted the spare tracks & Wheels (ModellTrans Resin Items, as too few of the original parts are remaining.. ) and also the new weapon, making the vehicle now a field modification from SdKfz. 250/10 (additional side panels and Pak 36) to Sd.Kfz. 250/11 (Panzerbüchse 41 / Anti Tank rifle 41).

Image

Btw. for anyone interested, Sd.Kfz. is short for "Sonderkraftfahrzeug", roughly translating to "Special motor vehicle". (The vehicle being special, not the motor... 😉). Multiple words put into one short and easy to pronounce word 🤡

As I took a lot of modeling stuff with me, I made up a crew for the vehicle by combining four different 1/72 figures. They are now a gunner and a spotter.

Image

Unfortunately the vehicle floor is much too high, so they are going to loose parts of their legs soon... 😳🚑

Ooh neat! After seeing your junkers figures I'm very interested to see how you paint your little dudes.

That's a lovely little Panzerbüchse - where is it from? Definitely the nicest I've seen in this scale. And nice work converting the figures. 8-)

Thanks, the Panzerbüchse is a resin item from Silesian Models / ModellTrans:

2 of them and I could buy an up to date SdKfz. 250 kit, but rescuing an old one is more fun 😁
Also the mounting plate for a gun was already mounted on the abandoned SdKfz 250/10 that I started with..

Hmm my previous post was lost somehow.. 🤔😐
So again:
After some early morning modelling, the gunner has now roughly the desired position and posture. This meant several arm, leg, hand, head... surgeries and amputations for the poor guy who started his existence as a loader in the SdKfz 7/1 kit from Hasegawa.

Thanks, softscience!
I'm not at home for some weeks, so only assembly tasks in my mobile workshop, taking paints with me would have complicated my "logistics".. 😉. So it might Take some time until they will end their grey existence (And start a field grey one, so not much change :-D )

Also thanks, Stuart for yor comment

Lots of filling and sanding to be done on the crew, but the concept is clear now:

Cheers for that KM, they have some great looking stuff available.

Great job fitting the crew - they certainly show the diminutive size of the half track! I seem to remember a lot of Hasegawa figures as 'large 1/72'. (Some Italeri figures likewise).

Yes, definitely a combination of a surprisingly small real life vehicle combined with figures (Hasegawa, PSC) that are definitely on the larger side of the spectrum. Almost too much, but that's what I have here.. 😁
Maybe a 250 would fit in my driveway🤔. Must think about how to sell the idea at home as a "spacious and very robust family car that will easily withstand minor parking accidents" or something along those lines.. :-D

This fellow could probably sort one out for you... might take a while and be expensive!

A guy in my brother's village used to run an old Ferret scout car around the place. I think he had to stop as the fuel consumption was insane.

That's an interesting video! Seems the figures aren't even that oversized...
As German it made me smile how german it must seem to other people that it was evaluated necessary to have correctly working direction indicators on a mortar carrier on the way to Stalingrad 🤭
Even today when you see a military tracked vehicle with direction indicators, rear view mirrors and yellow rotating warning light mounted it's highly likely it's a german vehicle. In the Panzer Museum in Munster I saw a BMP-2 with direction indicators and all that stuff and was a little confused. But only until I saw that it was a test vehicle inherited from the NVA (not North Vietnamese Army, but Nationale Volksarmee 😉) and only very shortly operated by the Bundeswehr 😁

I must admit that raised a chuckle. You should have one raised on your model...
