Havana is like going to an antique car show from the films I have seen. I added the radiator hoses, detailed some of the fender wells and dechromed the front grill. I need to hit it with some light sand paper then find an ivory color to paint it.

The pick up box is built and just set on for a test fit, I need to give it a coat of glacier blue. Once all the parts are on I will mask the windows and tires and give it a once over with gloss cote.

That is looking great, sometimes the stock look just works and these trucks are such a classic, we'll here in the UK they are, it does work.
I love that you've de-chromed the grille, it'll complete the 'period' look. Superb Britwit, looking forward to completion.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Looks may be deceiving. I glued the box on and it was up in the air on the right side. I clamped it and let is set for an hour and the left side was up. I clamped the left side and let it set for an hour. It seems better but still has a twist. Can't do too much with parts from a 60 year old mold that's worn out. AMT needs to rework these molds or make new ones.

This is coming along very nicely indeed, the F-100 is such an iconic US pickup. Outside of their use by tradesmen, builders and the like, pickups have never really sold that well in the UK as an alternative to a family car like in the US or Australia.

Totally different lifestyles. The U. S. was constantly building, evolving especially after WWII and Korea. Lots of "GI Homes" were built for returning vets and in the early 1950s, when I was born, the "big box stores" came into being. Almost like settling the "wild west" again, you needed a larger vehicle to haul lumber, animal feed, building supplies, that's where the pickup truck and station wagon came in.

That is a really neat model and the colour scheme is great.
(Cuban versions have all sorts of engines sourced from Soviet era vehicles to the likes of Mitsubishi with the Japanese engines coupled to Soviet gearboxes - or any other combination you can think of!).

Yup, the U.S. had an embargo with Cuba since the early 60s. No spare parts were allowed to go there. I can imagine what a disaster that was.

Nice work. You could also try using a silver Sharpie just dragged across the bonnet badges.

Thanks, tried that once and was a bit messy, dry brushing is a bit more "subtle". My Sharpies are too big for that.Clashcityrocker wrote: ↑March 18th, 2024, 9:50 am Nice work. You could also try using a silver Sharpie just dragged across the bonnet badges.

The bumpers are painted and added along with the gas cap. All I need to add is the tail light with license plate holder then paint the rubber around the front windshield.
