Tamiya 1/48 BF109e-4/7 Tropical

Post by Battletweety »

I've put this together for a customer who wanted a tropical version of the venerable 109 and the Tamiya kit was perfect for the job. Went together perfectly of course. Paints used XF-23 Light Blue, Mr Hobby H79 Sandy Yellow and XF-58 Olive Green. Only criticism of the kit is the landing gear is pretty fragile so be careful. I used a Vallejo luftwaffe camo mask to get the spots. Its not a bad bit of kit, just fiddly but I was ok with the final result.

Nice one BT, I like this scheme but, as with a lot of Luftwaffe schemes, an absolute pain to do with a paint brush!

It wasn't too bad with the masking I found, but yeah, an airbrush is definitely the way to go.

Looks good in that scheme BT.

I built this kit in the same scheme on here a few years ago and it remains the kit I would choose for a quarter scale 109E as I'm a bit of a Tamiya fanboy and enjoyed building it. Very nicely done, BT, the desert scheme is one of my favourites for the Emil.

That's a very nice paint job BT. Not the easiest one to tackle!

Good effort at a difficult scheme, especially with a hairy stick! The exhaust stain looks very good.
