1/72 Academy F-15E 336th FS, OIF, Qatar 2003

Post by Marek »

Academy's old mold F-15E is definitely not the best game in town but it was a gift for our Christmas' 2022 White Elephant Gift Exchange at the club so I am delighted to actually finish it in some ok standard. Hataka FS36118 (Gunship Grey, lacquer) fought me ALL the way having a purple hue that, regardless of what I added and how I applied it, wanted to make me a believer in F-15s being painted like a brothel neon sign. I managed to resurface it 3 times and probably would have binned it had it not been a gift. In the end I used good old MrColor and it went like a ... charm, of course. It is the only HATAKA's color that I do not like so far. Loaded it with Rockeyes and used SuperScale decals.

For the greyest of the pointy grey jets, that looks really good. I didn't know the old Academy kit builds up so nicely.

Thanks for the complement Rafal, it really is a six-feet model. :) And I am glad I do not have to build it again.

Another Wow!
Excellent result. You certainly fixed the odd paint hue.

Cheers,

David
