Re: Jeff's P38J Lightning
Looking cool, I like the white nacelle fronts it more attractive than I was thinking it would be.
I hate that with decals, especially if they are white backing paper and you can't tell if they are out of register until you've slid them off the paper, always one of my grrrrrr moments.
Cheers
Jim

Looks good. Shame about that registration problem, how steady is your touch-up hand ?

I do like the OD / NG with highlights colour scheme and you have done it justice.
I'm a bit surprised at the Hase decals!

Corrections made with the 10/0 hairy stick. Shooting to finish today as the household will be to myself. Would have been a great Blitzbau day.
At present, I am working on the glass.

Short finals on this one.
Attached the glass using the Testor's glue for clear parts. Have had good luck with that stuff. I elected to razor saw the side panes to represent them in the "rolled down" position.
Back on that decal issue. The real bad areas where on the bottoms of the national insignia so clean up went fairly well. There is a faint line on the bottom portion of the filler cap locators but my weathering will hopefully cover that.
@Brews. I have nothing against this kit overall but the "hallowed" name of Hasegawa, I expected an easier time of it. It's all good learning however.
Went with my cheat sheet 3x5 card listing last minute items. I still have to add the upper entry hatch, aerials and when the clear glue drys; paint the ID lights on the bottom using Tamiya clear colors. I will now do some light weathering.
I just noticed in the bottom picture that the camera has distorted the prop blades on the starboard engine. Trust me, they are straight.

Jeff,
That's a really really tidy build! I would be proud to have produced that one!

Re: Jeff's P38J Lightning***Finished***
Calling this one finished.
I have to admit that even with all the petite, scribed panel lines, fair amount of detail and options available, this kit seemed to fight to the finish. Nothing earth shattering but just enough niggles to keep you on guard. Makes for fun model building when you have to keep thinking through a project.
The weathering was done with pastel (not oil) chaulks and a micro brush. Smoothed out with a bud to blend it in. The worn wing was done with a Prismacolor silver pencil and rubbed down with a bud also for blending.
Thanks, Martin for moding the Group Build and for keeping me company throughout.
