Just finished 'war Lord' by Bernard Cornwell. The 13th and final installment of The Last Kingdom series...life will seem just a little emptier now that there's no more to come

I've just finished reading the latest book in the Sharpe series, 'Sharpe's Assassin'. Based just after Waterloo before Sharpe's Devil, This book is true Sharpe, lot's of dodgy Frenchmen, dodgy British officers and dodgy women. Far superior to Sharpe's Devil which was a total anti-climax for me.
It's only pain, work through it.

Been on holiday and took "Hitler's secret weapons of mass destruction" by Micheal Fitzgerald, with me to read. Didn't finish it, couldn't find it in me to continue reading such unresearched garbage
To cite but one example. In Chapter two whilst discussing the Lippisch P13a he states
"This aircraft reached a top speed of 1.200mph (1.931kph) and according to Polish records made a successful test flight in January and February 1945 American records indicate that it was captured by the allies and may well have been the basis on which one of their own pilots was subsequently able to break the sound barrier"
Don't know if this is supposed to be a jokebook or what but......damn.
So basically, I don't recommend it, unless you have a wonky table and need to put something under one of its legs.

My current book is "Escape from Earth". by Fraser MacDonald.
This tells the story of Frank Malina, one of the most important individuals in the history of US rocketry. He was one of the founders of what became the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. JPL is now one of NASA's most important space centres and is used to control most of the solar system unmanned space probes (Voyager, Mars Rovers etc) However, Malina has remained virtually unknown, chiefly because his political leanings meant he became a Communist in the 1930s and consequently found himself sidelined and airbrushed out of US space history.

Currently reading James Hollands War in the West part II. Whilst on holiday I manged to get through 4 good books. Into the Black by Roland White which is about the lead up to the first Space Shuttle launch, Harrier 809 also by Roland White .Tornado by John Nichol and Great SAS Escapes by Damien Lewis.
